If I join the program, am I assured of the $5,000 grant at the end of the program, the stipend and the idea exploration fund?

No you are not. Each phase of the program has requirements that need to be met, hence to move to the next phase, you will need to put in the work and successfully meet the phase criteria which will be assessed by our coaches. To access the $5,000 grant, you will need to present your business concept at the end of the program to a panel of experts who will decide the businesses to award the grants to.

Can I still sign up for the program if I'm not available full-time

No. The 6-week program is intense and will require a full-time commitment for the participant to get the best out of the program as well as achieve the program milestones.

What if I am currently not available but still interested in the program

You can register your interest here to stay updated on future programs in 2024.

Do I need to be in a team or can I join alone?

The program is designed for teams of 2 - 3 co-founders. We encourage each member of the team to apply individually but to clearly state, on the application form, who their co-founders are. If you don’t have a co-founder, you are still encouraged to apply. During the program, you will have the opportunity to meet and choose a potential co-founder based on your aligned interests.

Who will own my idea?

You will have ownership of the idea or business concept that you create during the program.

Do I need to have an idea or problem beforehand?

No, you do not need an idea to join the program; however, having a problem that you are interested in solving is an added advantage.

When is the next program?

Are there any costs involved?

The program does not have any cost for you to join or participate in

What do I need to attend the sessions?

You need to have access to a laptop for the learning sessions and access to WiFi.

Is there a geographical restriction with the program?

The pilot program targets entrepreneurs who are or can be in Nairobi for the duration of the program. We will communicate on new locations or geographies for the program as we launch in those locations. If you are not in Nairobi and are interested in the academy, please sign up here to stay updated.

What is the format of the program? Is it in-person, online, or a combination of both?

The pilot program is hybrid in nature, with a combination of in-person and online sessions.

Can I apply if I have prior entrepreneurial experience or if I already have a startup?

The Academy program is specifically designed for first-time entrepreneurs, hence it may not be relevant to an already established entrepreneur.

Will I receive a certificate or any formal recognition upon completing the program?

Yes, upon successful completion of the program.

Is there any support available for participants after the program ends?

Upon completion of the program, participants will join the Academy Community - a carefully-curated community where the participants can connect, collaborate and share their progress and entrepreneurship journey.

Are there any specific industries or sectors the program focuses on, or is it open to all business ideas?

The program primarily focuses on the individual, their entrepreneurial potential and ability to start a business at the end of the program. Individuals can apply to solve problems in any sector or industry
